Theee can be no doubt that structural lesions of the brain, and abnormal conditions as to the quantity of the blood circulating therein, and the rate and mode of its circulation, will disturb the cerebral functions in various ways. But, in many cases of nervous and mental disturbances, and more especially of mania, and allied disorders, no such structural lesions or abnormal conditions of vascularity exist.
